DISCOVER DADE CITY
Movable Art

Albert Einstein said, “Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”
Dade City Center for the Arts is trying to do just that with the Movable Art Project. The project began in the summer of 2024 with the goal of showcasing local artists.
DCAA President Lucy Avila explained how the project works: “Interested artists are given a prepared painter’s drop cloth and paint to create a design that is displayed on fences at locations throughout Historic Downtown Dade City,” she said. Each piece of art is displayed by a local business for 30 days and then moved to a different area. “A sign is placed next to the art that depicts the artist’s name for special recognition of their wonderful work,” Avila said.
DCAA members hope the Movable Art Project will not only delight local citizenry but help enlarge Dade City’s spot on the map for tourists and other visitors. “We want them to enjoy what we are doing. We want all of the artwork to give a positive feeling, and we want people to feel good when they come to Dade City,” Avila said.
DCAA “is committed to promoting the Arts in our East Pasco community. The DCCA seeks to inspire creativity, expression and imagination in individuals of all ages. The DCCA provides opportunities for established artists, as well as emerging artists, to showcase their talents in various artistic venues throughout the year. Our not-for-profit organization works closely with the City of Dade City, academic institutions, area businesses, civic organizations, and its merchants to uplift our local artists, while educating and introducing our community to various forms of art.”
