SAN ANTONIO FEDERAL CREDIT UNION - Remodeling Celebrated

More than 100 community members gathered Friday, April 17, to celebrate a gleaming new chapter for San Antonio Citizens Federal Credit Union (SACFCU) at its Zephyrhills branch. Reopening took place at 7301 Gall Boulevard, marking the completion of a remodeling project that spanned late 2025 into early 2026. Despite the renovation, SACFCU members could still access services through the branch’s drive-thru lanes as crews updated the interior.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by credit union staff, local members, and Greater East Pasco Chamber of Commerce participants, began at 11 a.m. Shoeing in the ceremonial scissors, SACFCU’s President and CEO Steven Shaffner then sent a shower of confetti fluttering across the front entrance, signaling a fresh start for the community hub. Inside, guests explored the refreshed space, where light-filled interiors and a welcoming atmosphere invited conversations about financial wellness and local ties. Afterward, guests enjoyed an array of treats as they toured the remodeled facility.
Shaffner, who has led SACFCU since July 2025, spoke warmly about the milestone. “We remodeled this building. We’ve been part of this community since 2000, and this year we’re celebrating 70 years as a credit union,” he noted. He described the redesign as more than cosmetic—it’s about creating a space where members feel valued and at home, a place where staff can deliver personalized service with a bright, modern backdrop.
The Zephyrhills branch is part of SACFCU’s broader community footprint, which began in San Antonio in 1955. Originating in the 11000 block of Curley Street, the credit union opened its doors on December 12, 1955, and began serving members on January 3, 1956. Today, SACFCU extends its reach with additional branches in Dade City, Zephyrhills, and Wesley Chapel, continuing a tradition of neighborhood-focused financial service.
